Il mont intune pagjine

Synopsis

A single page can encapsulate an entire world. It is not only the world of the author who wrote it but also that of the reader who approaches and connects with it.

Il mont intune pagjine is a documentary series born from the concept of a “living” Friulian literature, a dialogue between past and present, between fictional characters and real people, uncovering themes, untold meanings, and striking parallels. Across thirteen episodes, the series explores thirteen protagonists: authors who shaped 20th-century Friulian literature, united by a profound bond with their land and the choice of the Friulian language as the medium to express their human and existential reality through prose and poetry.”

Concept

The common thread connecting the episodes is Martina Delpiccolo, who selects three keywords for each author to represent their literary journey.

Each episode opens with a brief biography accompanied by a series of images tracing the protagonist’s life. In an ancient room of the Udine Civic Library, Martina Delpiccolo introduces the author’s work from an artistic and literary perspective. Her presentation highlights the most characteristic elements of the author’s poetics and the most distinctive traits of their personality. She concludes her introduction by presenting the three keywords chosen to tell the story of the protagonist’s literary career.

Martina then moves to a location that evokes the first keyword. She explains the reason for this choice, when and why that word was represented or evoked throughout the author’s creative path. Martina’s narration is followed by the reading of a poem or a prose fragment.

The voice-over is accompanied by contemporary and/or archival images that evoke the atmosphere of the place or the feeling of the text. This visual accompaniment is non-literal and slightly dreamlike, ensuring it does not overshadow the power of the word.

A scene change introduces the first interview. The witness speaks directly to the camera, without an interviewer. Rather than discussing the protagonist’s poetics, they address the specific keyword. Their personal interpretation — reflecting an experience, a style, or a philosophy of life— complements the author’s poetic reach. The result is a novel insight composed of past and present, artistic expression, and contemporary life.
