Feminis, that is cherchez la femme: it is a journey for searching a Friuli that has always been more a Motherland than a Fatherland. A universe of common and extraordinary women that are not afraid to expose themselves in order to make the difference. A simple but significate gallery of portraits, outlined by stories where their intimate side is overlapped to the social life. Short stories of lived lives that build pieces of stories and History: the creativity, the responsibility of an individual action that involves the community, the constancy of the action aimed at the project, the inheritance of what has been conquered. It is in this perspective that the most recent history of Friuli is investigated thanks to the testimony of those protagonists that, far from the official census, the chronicles and the spotlight, did not let History pass through them in vain but guided it, brought forth with courage and dignity.

Angelo Floramo drives along Friuli to find ten women who intrigue him for some peculiarities of their lives. Each story unfolds through some recurring scenes. In the beginning, a cup of coffee or tea prepared by the protagonist introduces him to the story of the origins of the family and the childhood of the protagonist.
Angelo helps her prepare lunch and set the table while the conversation continues. The themes can be recurring, repeated episode after episode, but can also specifically touch a particular aspect or experience of the protagonist. It can be a significate event or a meeting that has given rise to the passion for her job. At the table, while eating, the theme of food often takes over. The food or the curiosity to discover some ingredients let her think about the relationship with their culture, the Friulian language, the relationship with tradition. Angelo follows intrigued thoughts and reflections, stimulated by identity and differences.
Then, in the car, the two continue the conversation while moving to the workplace or at the parent’s home. It is an opportunity to talk about how work began, the difficulties in establishing oneself professionally, the successes achieved. In the protagonist’s workplace, Angelo is able to discover other details of his daily life. Tiles of a mosaic that are composed in a final “self-portrait” where the protagonist indicates an element, a “something” that represents her and that, through a tangible motivation, returns the image of her identity.
